Wait Back-Poem

Wait Back

I know the spring is far and

Winter yet to come but

Wait back.

I have to tell you things

That aren’t t about you or me.

I have to tell you how

I spent days crying behind my door

Pretending to clear things up.

How some nights,

The world was worthless around me.

And it rained blue all over me.

When I put songs and emotions

On repeat from dusk till dawn

Not knowing how stars disappear,

Just. Wait back.

 I need to tell you

How I questioned myself.

How do you miss something

You’ve never felt?

I have to tell you about how I starred

At empty walls with emptier heart.

I have to tell you

How I stopped feeling

When I should’ve been feeling the most.

You need to know how

I thought shutting myself up

Was the answer to my

Who, when, how, why.

How I kept all of my remaining love

Between my trembling arms.

 Don’t run away from me.

I won’t let you run away from me.

I promise I wont give you up this time.

Just. Wait back.

I need to ask you to hold me

Because you love me.

How you and I can grow together.

Grow old. Grow beautiful. Grow strong.

I cannot wait for it.

I have to tell you things that don’t matter,

And that do matter

And leave it on you to decide.

There’s a lot for me to say

And billions for you to read.

There’s millions for me to share

And infinite for you to know.

Just. Wait back.

Look, the night is almost over yet.

Will you wait back?

Let’s watch the sunrise together.
